Waretown Historical Society - Minutes Oct. 16, 2023
People in attendance: Linda B., Adele S., Joan F., Bill F., Aidan O., John Y., June M., Sandy G., John Pu., Buck G., Lydia D.,
Before the meeting began, prayers were said for Jeff G. and Paul Bonnell's family. Paul passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15th. Lydia mentioned that services will be this coming Saturday at Riggs funeral home in Barnegat. Paul's plaque will be delivered at that time.
Adele displayed pictures from the Pinelands Jamboree that had been shared from Aiden O., and we were able to see the display of items and the ship on the table. John Pu., won the ship with his donation. Lydia, June, Ron, and Aiden worked the show.
Adele continued with the reading of the Warren Journal from 1888, and ended on page 63.
Minutes from the previous meeting were posted online. No corrections. Motion to accept made by June M., seconded by John Puz., all in favor AYE.
No one knew the answer to the question.
Treasurer's Report - read by Joan F., for Anne G., motion to accept and file for Audit - John Puz., seconded by Joan F., all in favor AYE.
Memorials and Membership -
with the addition of our newest member = 93.
Memorials - condolence cards were sent to Steve Hardeski's family including one to Adele S.,
Correspondence - Thank you cards were sent to David Z., Sharon S.,
Receipts for the two books purchased at the Albert Music Hall are on the way. Pictures from Dan Salese are still being proofed.
Several contacts were made at the Jamboree for future summer programs, 2024.
Program committee report - yes the Jamboree was worth it. Comments were made about opening the museum on a regular schedule. Possible two Sundays a month from 2-4pm.
Old business -
Plaques were completed. Possible presentation to two members on Dec. 3rd.
New business-
An Open house is being planned for Dec. 3rd from 2-4. We may have a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be a decorating/entertainment committee headed by Joan F., Publicity committee - Lydia D., Refreshments, etc. - Linda B.,
Clean-up committee and spiced rum? or mulled wine and apple cider - Adele S.,
We will hand out candy canes. A motion was made by Joan to spend $600 on the event. Seconded by Lydia. All in favor. AYE.

Grant Report -
Nothing to report. Joan F., will no longer work on Grants.
Trustee Report -
A Ladder will be purchased. 8' . June M., made a motion to purchase the 8' ladder, seconded by Linda B., All in favor AYE. Throw out the old ladder.
New railing has been purchased and will be put up soon.
Candles were placed in the windows on Monday. They will help to illuminate the building in the dark for people to know the museum is there.
No new acquisitions.
The old Cemetery will have a plaque marking graves from the Revolutionary War. The town will now be listed as the owner.
