Waretown Historical Society Meeting - Aug. 19, 2024
People in attendance: Linda B.,Adele S., Aidan O., John Ya., John Pu., June M., Sandy G., Garry C., Ron T., Lydia D., John Pa., Don and Peggy M., Kelly Z.
Meeting was called to order at 7:31pm
Prayers were sent to Lee R., Annie G., and LeVerne. Adele told the members that a small group of members went to Lee R.'s house and presented her and Bob a plaque for all of the work they have done for flag program, the newsletter and the museum over the years. Bob was a trustee for many years.

John Pu made a motion to accept, June M., seconded. All in favor? AYE.
Treasurer's report - all bills are paid. Several expenses this month due to Music in the Park coming on Sept. 7th. The flag income money is finished. We have a new donation box and we have received a few donations. We paid David S., for the supplies needed to repair the front steps. John Pu., made a motion to accept the report, Sandy G., seconded.
Correspondence - A few new members, one renewal. Donna M., sent us an invitation to attend a Round table on Sept. 20th at 5:30 in Berkley to discuss the future of our historical societies.
Memorials - none.
Members = plus 4, 103 reg. paid members
Phone is fixed. Internet might be later. Comcast will be called.
Mini - program presented on the history of local pirates. Everyone enjoyed it.
Program committee -
Mini programs going forward - we need people to volunteer for these.
Christmas gala - plans are in the works. Arnie A. is on the list for music. Wm. N. will be contacted.
Lunchbox for food. Sweet memory for sweets. We need to remember a cork screw.
Curator update - John Ya., has been working with Adele on updating our inventory into Excel spread sheet. If anyone would like to become our new curator, please let us know.
Open house - Many people have been attending and we have had a few new members because of it. It is a successful event.
Summer Friday's = only two left. Very successful.
Music in the Park - update. We have the alpacas coming.
Flag report -
John Pa., will update the Business Sponsor signs. One will be placed in town hall and one will be here in the museum.
There will be a new sign for the museum, placed on the parking lot side of the building. We will dedicate this sign in the memory of Henry Gerken one of our founding members.
Trustees report - The leak in the wall in the second bathroom is being addressed. Ron will contact town hall and a plumber if necessary.
Mini program ideas- we are interested in finding out what people might want to learn about.
