NOVEMBER 18, 2024 MEETING
PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE - Adele S, Linda B, Aidan O, Ron T, June M, John Pu, Lydia D, Sandy G, Don M, Peggy M, John Y, John Pa, Kelly Z, Jeanne B
PRAYERS - Lee R, Gary S, Jeff G, and Sandy G’s (family member)
TREASURERS REPORT - The letter to the town was sent and received. We have received; a check from the town. Next year the town would like us to use a different format. All Bills are paid. The society received a donation from a unknown source of $100; John Y is going to look into it.
MEMORIALS AND MEMBERSHIP - Tom S. joined and will help with the flag program; we are up to 106 paid members. Membership committee is ready to send out letters in December.
CORRESPONDENCE - We received an email from Steve Dodson, an author and a historian from Tuckerton. He will be sending us a complimentary copy of his new book “The Old Timer”. This book includes newspaper columns of Charles Horner, who seasonally worked the Pines and Barnegat Bay, 1931-1970.
PROGRAM COMMITEE - Aidan O reported on the Halloween Tour of his home. “ We had a tremendous turnout; we had over 50 members of the society come out to see my home's Halloween Display, and it was great that the society received some donations." This can become a annual event around Halloween.
OPEN HOUSE REPORT - We had a good turn out for our monthly open house. The committee for the Christmas Gala is all set for the gala on Dec 8th; it should be a tremendous turnout.
FLAG REPORT - We had another good year with the flag program.
TRUSTEES REPORT - The leaves have been blown and collected. The gutters are cleaned out for the winter; cross space vents are closed.
Mini Program - After, the meeting concluded Linda B performed a vision of what it would have been like cooking Thanksgiving dinner in the early 1900’s. She made some homemade cranberry sauce samples for us to try as well as mini cranberry muffins. Pat and Don M., also brought snacks.
